I note the use of the word "should" in place of "must".
I??ll bet there aren??t many surveyors left out there who could run a compass traverse and close within 20??. ?????ÿ
In all of my business years I really never experienced much difficulty dealing with engineers. Most, if not all, architects were the problem. For whatever reason, none of them can add or understand the conversions of feet and inches to decimal feet. The weird thing is even when you point out an obvious error they won??t admit it. Must be something in their secret code. ?????ÿ

Saving the rare few....it's the best they can do being heavily steeped in narcissistic tendencies...
I was married to a mediocre artichoke. Her anger at the world was always magnified by the bottle.
I actually took her outside and did the Richard Dreyfuss modeling technique he demonstrated in close encounters of the 3rd kind, except with relief, and not elevation to give her the proper perspective of elevation and the like.
Helped her pass that section of her license boards.

In the context of 1909, "Engineer" very nearly equals "Surveyor".
A surveyor is an engineer but an engineer is not a surveyor????
I am neither
I are both.?ÿ Please don't try to equate two very different professions.?ÿ Each side believes they are being insulted by the comparison.
Ahem. When I did my engineering degree in the late 80's it included a compulsory 6 month surveying course. There was even a one week field trip, in which we surveyed a mock road development. It was beyond me. Then there was the exam, there were 20 questions, you had to do six, I did one, the one about a levelling run. I know I got it wrong but was chuffed that I passed with a C-. My first job as an engineer was in the survey department, and on my first day I got to hold the numb end of a tape measure as we measured up a commercial building. Quite early on, on that first day, I thought "f... this". Anyway, since 2013 I've been full time surveying - topos and bathymetric for engineering - coupled with Civil 3D design, using robotic total station and RTK. Relative to everything else, I quite enjoy it, thank you.
I like working with engineers. At least they can speak the language. ?ÿ
@jed Nah, you just don't know Mr. Cow well enough to catch his dry humor yet.
Mr Cow can have nervous breakdowns, when his survey side or his engineering side collide. It??s not a problem for me, cause I??m only surveyor. But, try to empathize. He also has cows. I suspect he had a cow, when his survey side, found out about his engineering side. And, he has wound up with a whole herd of cows now. Then, to keep cows happy, you need a bull. Then, if the herd gets big enough, he has to add another bull. Now there are 2 bulls. And when those 2 bulls get to arguing, that Holy Cow climbs a tree, to get out of their way. Then, holy cow wants to go home. And, he wishes he had wings.?ÿ
Presto! That??s where Holy Cow got that way.?ÿ
If I??m wrong, correct me, Mr Cow.?ÿ
Happy Friday!!
Nate
I too like working with engineers.?ÿ
I never much liked working FOR engineers.?ÿ
