Love that they misspell "Sarasota" and must be able to "preform" a survey.

I'm not sure what kind of surveys their doing but even MLSs (Mortgage Location Surveys), I don't know if Texas even allows such a beast but their is no way I could calc out 15-20 surveys a day even lot surveys. I guess the intent is to let the "draftsmen" put every thing together then slip it on your desk for you to rubber stamp. Don't think so. After runnig 7 crews and a group of techs I was run ragged. I went out on each site (sometimes 3-4 hours away) maybe a couple of times and did all the calcs because I didn't have a tech I really trusted to do any of the difficult calcs. A normal week was 70-80hrs. I don't think 90 thousand is worth it.

Looks like she worked for SAM, Inc

Interesting! So in Texas, you can still be a surveyor without any surveying education??

Sarasota I'll give you, but preform is correct given their business model; it's far more efficient to have ready-made surveys completed before the client calls. Drag and drop some pertinent details, and stamp, stamp, stamp.

What's interesting is that all Texas surveyors are superior to surveyors from any other states (and that goes double for PLSS States). So you can imagine how bad most of the rest of the American Surveyors are....;-)

Jack, don't worry

You don't have to finish that as if I don't know what a Texas surveyor is going to say before he even opens his mouth. 😀

Even if you were willing, $90k wouldn't seem like enough for the 100 hour work week.

I sat and watched one of these guys do a lot survey and elevation cert. across from a job I was doing. He had no rodman, yet didn't use a robotic total station. He had reflective targets he stuck all over the place and a prism pole on a bipod. He arrived on site about an hour after I did, so I introduced myself and asked him if he'd worked in the area before to which he replied "nope, first time". So as I watched him perform a lot & block survey, without running the block out and only tying to the neighbors lot corner (which "technically by FL SOP is fine" but that's for another discussion). He never entered the premises to perform the elev. cert. Nor did I see him shoot a benchmark or do any level work other than shooting the finish floor and some other items. The problem is, my father built this house and it has a sunken living room. The other problem I had was he shot the threshold and not the actual finish floor. Now, maybe his firm had done the survey before etc., I don't really know, but he was on site less than 2 hrs. I was doing the same work and was on my job for 2 hrs. more, b/c I DID MORE WORK! Later, I hired a party chief that had worked for this outfit AND QUIT B/C OF 2 THINGS, DRUG USE BY EMPLOYEES, AND SHODDY WORKMANSHIP. That's pretty bad when people leave you for those 2 reasons. Ok, rant over...
