We just had a very positive experience that I thought I would share. We have a Schonstedt GA-52CX that we have had for so long I don't remember when we got it. It stopped working about two weeks ago. Our office is about 2 miles from the Schonstedt headquarters. I took it in and asked if they could fix it and if so how much would it cost. They looked up the serial number on the computer and said it was still under warranty and that they would fix it at no charge. A week later (today) they called and said it was ready and they would ship it free of charge. I told them not to ship it I would just come down and pick it up.
Altogether a very positive experience with an American company and an American product.
That's a good story about a great product and their support.
On a similar note about service people, my beeper went a little goofy about 15 yrs ago and I suspected a wire issue. I opened it up and discovered a loose connection, and I'm not exactly electronically oriented. Stuff like heat sinks, wrong connections, etc.
Fortunately, I was doing a survey next to a mom & pop electronics store and asked them if they could solder the connection back up. I had to explain to them what the device was and how it worked. He was pretty geeked about the challenge.
$10 and 20 minutes later Mr Beeper was good as new. I also bought a portable cd player from them, which is since gone but Mr Beeper is alive and kicking. I now prefer the holster model, but have fond memories of those ole' reliable beepers.
Key phrase here: "it was still under warranty". They did not do you a favor.
But, the important thing is you got it fixed, whatever the circumstances.
Schonstedt's warranties are for 7 years.
They're the best...we've had many similar experiences with Schonstedt. Their product costs a little more, but they stand behind it. Schonstedt is the only brand we buy.
If on Schondstedt's that are very old, they are very reasonable on repairing. You're all right, great company.
