How often do you PM your gear??ÿ ?ÿWhat is your set schedule for:

  • Total Stations
  • Tribrachs
  • Rods
  • Tripods
  • Bipods
  • Prisms

I'm trying to put together a schedule and SOP/Log book for all equipment.?ÿ That way I can hand it to my son so he can get'er done.?ÿ It gives him a bit more responsibility in the business, affords him more understanding on how the gear works, and my gear stays in tip-top.

?ÿ

Thanks in advance.

In one sense I perform my work in a manner that checks the status of the equipment almost every time I use it. Things like doubling angles and checking splits, rotating rods 180?ø between shots, recorded third point checks, and habitually adjusting data. This is the "QC" part.

As far as regularly scheduled checks, the "QA" as it were, I'd go for something in the monthly to quarterly range. Total Station to the calibration baseline annually, maybe bi-annually. That may seem to some to be rather infrequent, but if you actually do it that often you will be ahead of 99% of your competition.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ

For robot I run the collimation before any major traverse no matter what. It should be in manual about how often it needs to go in for cleaning and calibration. But on e a month minimum for field routines for calibration and collimation and if temperatures change like fall spring summer. For field. Where i am now the send them in every 6 months. Now what he said. If i see spreads in my daily work routine for rounds. I do it then. I ck pole every morning first thing quickly. Always 3rd point ck. Get it all done and start cking on e a month for your son on poles tribrachs etc. ?ÿif you or him use it daily then you will get a feel for if something is getting lose. By your daily checks. Baseline edm. We use to do them 2 times a year in Colorado. ?ÿHere they keep talking about going to one but its not required in this state. This state reference manufacturer specs. From what little i have read on state specific. I am beginning to study it more for exam so if I find something different. Tribrachs should be cked every 30 days and or before a long traverse in my opinion. But some of it boils down to how it is stored in vehicle and cared for. Treat it like a lady and she will be good to you. Treat her wrong and well. They are thinking why we are sleeping and nothing worse than making her mad. ?ÿ Send me to a war zone and i am safer. ?????ÿ
