Hi all. some of you will recognize me from the old forum, havent had much time to post anywhere. I am looking for direction on a request I have had from an insurance agent. I performed an elevation certificate and the agent is requesting that I show "grandfathered" information from the old flood insurance maps under comments in section C...I have never had this request before and if anyone has any information on this or can lead me to a source under what is appropriate to put in the comments...I would greatly appreciate it.
Cliff

Most likely they are referring to this. http://tinyurl.com/42mp3yo. I would start by reading that.

I've had similar requests. I don't think there is a standard way to do this, but here's what I do:

Research to find the effective FIRM at the date of construction, then state the Map Number, Effective Date, Zone, Datum & BFE (if any). Then, if there is a datum conversion involved, state either state the conversion factor (i.e., "Elevations shown in Section C can be converted to NGVD 1929 by adding X.XX') or provide the key elevations on the effective datum.

If you know the date of construction you can search the FEMA website and find the FIRM that was current at the time of construction.
If they were not in a Flood hazard zone at the time of construction then they would qualify for grandfathering.
You can create a firmette and attach it to the elevation certificate.
