Why do I have to take levels during earthworks for road construction??

Maybe to maintain good control for more critical parts of the job for down the road?

Maybe because of mistakes that were made in the past?

Quantities for payment.

Surveying for road construction almost always requires elevations. The method used is up to the person in charge

As opposed to elevations with TS or GPS? Because levelling is more precise.?ÿ

And because leveling is simple.?ÿ Although care must be exercised in any surveying work, leveling is not as subject to arcane errors nor does it require anything beyond elementary school mathematics.?ÿ When you get results from a total station or GPS that "seem funny" the level is always available to provide lucidity.
