Dzign HP35S/ HP 33s Cogo Programming Book

Dzign sells survey programming books for both HP 33s and 35s.?ÿ My guess is that they are not interchangeable and only work on the specified calculator.?ÿ I've been using Dzign software on a 35s.?ÿ I wasn't quite sure which of the available softwares would be best but decided to try Dzign and it seems fine.?ÿ

The HP33 and the HP35s use slightly different programming languages. So the programs are not interchangeable.

That just reminded me that about 15 years ago a Irish fella from the old message board bought half a dozen program books for my HP42.

Those programs worked good but if the batteries died and you didn't have a fresh set it was many hours of keying in all the codes again.

any chance you have any HP42s survey stuff you would sell ....i still have my 42s in working condition, ever since it was new in about 1994 when i was in Cortex CO with the BOR.

I have programs for the 35s I could send you if you're interested.

Also the batteries on a 35s last about a year and when they die all the programs go too.
The painful memory is still fresh as it just happened last week.

Replace the batteries before they go dead, and replace them 1 at a time, never removing both batteries at the same time and you will not loose your programing. I replace mine every 6 months and cycle the used batteries into rotation for guitar tuner batteries, if those go dead no biggie.

Randy; That does not work. Once the circuit is broken by the removal of a single battery all power is lost. I seem to recall that the HP42 had a residual charge that allowed for removal and replacement of batteries but they had to be done in about 15 seconds otherwise...ƒ??.kapupt.

Now I suppose you could build a bridge and use some alligator clips and a spare battery to hook to the terminals and maintain a charge while you change batteries but I never did.

Sitting here looking at my HP 35s with one battery removed and the screen even still has digits on it. Just removed both batteries (1 at a time) and all of my programs are still there so I suggest that you give it a try. So long as there is a decent amount of charge in the single battery no loss of programing. Just don't let them get too close to dead. I've had this 35 for about 4 years, I'm on my 8th set of batteries and only programed it once.

Randy, I have no experience with the HP-35, I was referring to the HP-42. The 42 was a P.O.S. and I spent a lot of hours on many nights and weekends reinputting the programs.

Seems like a relevant place to post a program I wrote about a year ago. It will convert Feet, Meters, Varas, Rods, Chains, Links, into all of those same units. In operation, it will prompt you for a value to convert from, F, V, R, C, L, in that order. If you leave it blank and hit R/S it will cycle to the next unit. When you enter a value, it will start giving you the conversions, output in the same order as the input. It will give you back the same unit you provided for a check. It works by converting whatever you enter into feet, and then from feet into the different units, so I suppose there is some accuracy loss, but it's worked for me for testing purposes.
