holler when you do- briscoe center is about halfway between my house and my office. there's good beer and tacos to be had right up the street.
I tried going to that place for lunch last time I was at the Briscoe and had to give up after 3 days because of traffic gridlock.

FWIW, the UT Investments, Trusts, and Lands Office Records from 1880-1968 are archived at the Briscoe Center.
That's interesting that the holdings of the UT Lands Office Records include some material relating to M.J. Doyle. Doyle was another Travis County resident who surveyed in West Texas in the 1870s and 80s and who later went to work for the GLO. I'd be interested to learn what the files disclose about him. Someone ought to do a survey-related inventory of the Briscoe Center holdings. There is bound to be quite a lot in addition to the Jacob Kuechler records and the A.M. Lindsey papers.
I completely agree. I think I have relayed finding McCombs second field book at the Briscoe which the GLO had no clue about. Even though it was a poor quality xerox copy, it beat the nothing in the GLO files. If there is nothing more that I have learned from you in the past 15 years is that I probably haven't done enough research. But lesson learned. And I can't explain the joy in my little aspergers heart when I show someone some relevant item that they missed. I try not to be a contrarian, but... I am my wobbly father's son.
