I have a 1913 first edition of "Descriptions of Land" by R. W. Cautley, D.L.S., B.C.L.S., A.L.S., late surveyor to the Land Title Office at Edmonton Alberta, and member Alberta and British Columbia Boundary Commission. It was written as a text book for survey students.

What is the pre-eminent descriptions text in Canada?

Much reference is made to "Wattles " in the US. When was William C. Wattles "Land Survey Descriptions" first published? I have a reprint of the 1974 10th Edition by Gurdon H. Wattles.

Same Edition as mine.

I purchased it from the Lafayette College Library, last checked out in 1954 versus the 1959 of the University of California copy.

I downloaded the pdf version for my computer files.

When I was much younger, and greener, and still living and working in Canada my employer of the day gave me a xerox copy of a portion of this book to study. I still have that copy, somewhere. He certainly considered it authoritative.

Go To J Tanner's Link And Download It All, I Did

Along with about 2 dozen other texts. I will get more another day. Several other of the PDFs I got I also have in hard copy, but some are rather fragile to thumb through.

Paul, a friend of mine just purchased what appears to be a first edition of Land Survey Descriptions by Wattles dated 1956 and another 8th edition dated 1968. Both in very good shape.
