I wonder if I get a warranty deed?
Back in the early 1960s, Dale Robertson came to NE Texas and started a Youth Ranch on the East bank of Lake O' The Pines complete with rodeo arena that later developed into a Subdivision called Deer Cove.
To kick off the membership drive for his Restaurant and Club, at purchase a member would gain membership and a deed to 1 sq ft of land.
😉
Did each member get a tax bill for 10 cents?
How are you going to get to Mars in your lifetime? $9 an acre? Hmph! I'll sell you a Quit Claim Deed to the Mackinac Bridge for $1000. That's 5 miles of valuable infrastructure that you can drive to now.*
*Offer of Quit claim Deed may or may not convey actual title to the named property. The conveyance is for any interest I may have in said property. There is probably a similar disclaimer on the Mars deeds. What is the basis of the seller's title to the Martian land?
[EDIT] I missed this before on the righthand side of the page: "Novel gift for entertainment purposes only. Merchant is solely responsible to purchasers for the care and quality of the advertised goods and services."
Wonder how many knuckleheads are going to buy these deeds thinking that they are making an investment.
Color of Title, and Time
it is called Space Law, and there are Five international treaties at the moment...
The outer space treaty is the most widely adopted treaty, with 103 parties.[6]

Jack Daniels offers a Squier program that includes a conveyance of a square foot.

I will accept nothing less than a Patent from the Martian Government.
Pet rocks. That had to be one of the most stupid items ever sold. The only thing more stupider was the people buying them for themselves. As a gag gift, maybe, but not for yourself. Geeeeez.

From Wikipedia:
Dahl sold 1.5 million Pet Rocks for $4 each, and became a millionaire.
Excerpt from current space real estate legislation.....
"The bill does not allow ownership of an asteroid, or a swath of the moon, or any other section of extraterrestrial real estate ÛÓ just the resources extracted from such a body. Space mining will thus be analogous to fishing in international waters, Lewicki said.
"No one owns them until they are in your possession, and then you own them," he said of space resources, which Lewicki and other mining advocates say have the potential to open up the solar system to exploration (especially water, which can be processed into rocket propellant, allowing sojourning spaceships to refuel on the go."

Haven't government patents in the US been equated to quitclaim deeds?

But the US gov will defend your land against claims from Spain, France, etc. That's more than a quit claim.

Not by anyone who knew what they were talking about...

These guys thought so....
In the first place, the patent is a deed of the United States. As a deed, its operation is that of a quit-claim, or rather of a conveyance of such interest as the United States possessed in the land....
Beard v. Federy, 70 US 478 - Supreme Court 1866
I guess my attempt at humor didn't fly as well as I had hoped.
I was attempting to make a joke that combined the idea of the Martian Government issuing a patent (as Dave Karoly had mentioned) and the comment about a quitclaim to the Mackinac Bridge (as eapls2708 had mentioned). It must be Monday. 😀
