While watching Pawn Stars last night I was a bit suprised that Ric paid $ 725 for a 1960 ish era Curta.....
They even sale posters of the things. I have a Curta at the office, but it probably isn't worth $750. It's a little beat up. Still have the leather and metal case's.
DANG!!!
that makes me wonder what some uninformed and impressionable folks would pay for a good but used dip needle

It was $600 new.
I know where 2 or 3 are, in perfect condition. But, I don't think the Commonwealth of Virginia (VDOT) wants to let go of them.
Interesting.

Dude at the poker table looks like a winner.
We have one in the display case. My dad taught me how to use it in like 3rd or 4th grade. He took it away when he caught me doing math homework with it. Now I don't remember how to run it. 🙂
I bought one about 7 years ago on e-bay and paid $800 for a model II in great condition, near the end of the life of Curta. They really are amazing devises when you conside that they are mechanical, pretty cool.

Liechtenstein - from calculators to money laundering ...
The Principality recently got dinged by the EU for laundering money and reportedly has since cleaned up their act. Guess they had to do something with the unemployed people at the Curta factory for a while ... wonder what they're going to try next?
