I just purchased a Carlson Surveyor+ and cannot find how to use the microphone to record notes. Thanks for any help.
Its a data collector not a droid, blackberry;-)
Seriously I've never see it either, didn't know it had one.
I think you can use it through windows, but I'm pretty sure Carlson doesn't have any "app" for the mic. 😉
That WOULD be a BRILLIANT addition to the software though, IMHO.
Ladd?

Check out the Audio on the Field PC Knowledgebase article from Juniper Systems.
I opened the Notes application already on the device and was able to record and audio message and I will relay the suggestion to programming about adding an audio option into SurvCE/SurvPC.
Reading from the December, 2011 Professional Surveyor Magazine hardware & software review on the Carlson Surveyor+ with SurCE, "Speakers are located below the bottom corners of the screen, and a microphone is below the center of the screen. To see how that would work, I recorded an audio note. Playback was a little noisy due to wind blowing in the microphone while recording, but it got the job done. This could be a handy way for field crews to note specific comments while on job sites".
The article also refered to using the WiFi to look up property in the counnty tax records, find a plat reference and access the plat image, which I also haven't been able to do because my county's website requires add-ons that are not available to this unit. -(
