received info on archaeological sites which were listed as
Q...................Q-Q...............Q-Q-Q
NW..................SE.................SW
Now in my thinking this would be the SW quarter of the SE quarter of the NW quarter...
however along with this info is a map that shows this site plotted as the SE/4, NE/4, NW/4.
I an going to call to varify this but was wandering if anyone else has seen this
Sometimes another set of eyes helps
thanks
I would have interpreted it as you did. Maybe they have their own very unique system.

or perhaps dyslexic for a moment. 😉
How regular is the section?
I've read instructions to archaeologists telling them to align a template with one side of the section (I forget which) on the quad map and read the fraction of the section the site falls into on the template. They don't follow GLO procedures for subdividing. So in a weird section they might get a different answer.
I'm not sure if you are giving fractions in their order or in the order of
SE/4 of the NE/4 of the NW/4, so this response may or may not be relevant.
