I love to deal. So far this year I have surveyed for:
- dental services
- high school football season tickets & hot dogs
- hunting rights
- a pistol
- a retaining wall and landscaping for my home
- some old survey gear for my collection
- also snagged a couple of free meals in addition to cash payment while doing alcohol distance surveys
What have you got other than cash for surveying?
Be keerful snoop...the IRS considers goods and services received through 'barter or trade' as taxable income and must be reported...i'm just sayin'...
oh, i claim the income. i would never want to run afoul of the law.

I know a very rich surveyor (albeit rare). He would go
into subdivisions and survey a property. The developers would
pay slow. He would talk to the developer who said he had a cash
flow problem. The surveyor would say, "No problem, I'll just take
a lot as payment. How much are the lots?" The developer said, "$5,000".
The surveyor replied, "Well, since I am giving you credit, I will take
a lot every time I get to $2500 of billing. Of course, as a formaility,
I will put a lien on the lots that I survey." The developer said, "OK".
The surveyor said, "If you do sell a lot, I will release the lien and
put the bill for that lot on the next survey." The developer said,
"Sounds great."

alcohol distance survey?
for minimum distance booze to nearest place of worship? i have seen them in MD as well
I've bartered several times for cash (or check) instead, I settled on a bankruptcy.
But, I did get nice equipment, software and memories.....does that count...:)
One of my past bosses (in a small town at the time) used to survey subdivisions for developers around town. He would barter for a lot or two as partial or full payment (depending on potential value, etc.). By the time I came into the picture, it seemed like he owned half the town. Often, when I would research a project, one of the adjoining or nearby parcels would be his. I wish I had started out that way. The man is living the life now.

While I'm not up on other states laws, Texas requires distances from houses of worship and schools to be measured so they can provide the licensed to sell beer and wine. It's different for both. For a church, it's from the front door, perpendicular to the street, down the street and to the front door (called the door to door rule). For schools, it is property line to property line yet they won't tell you where to measure from and to on the property line but concede that at the road or at the closest point will suffice.
It's a weird animal dealing with TABC.

Sounds about like me.
I got a new "loop" drive way in front of my house, some gravel on the original driveway, some trees cut down and removed and some iron pipe for corners.

I gave you hell about it, but I always ask for a free meal now especially around lunch time. You taught me something 🙂
And by the way... prices in metro ATL have bottomed out on those things. $350 is about the going rate now. You weren't a low baller, you were just 'ahead of your time'.

I seem to remember giving some right back.

I'm pretty sure it was more than $350..
But who cares? Not I.
Love ya,

you would think Churches would like a liquor store next door like in Ridgecrest, California (big military town). Get drunk, go to jail, get bailed out, go to church to redeem yourself.

Not a lot of catholics around here, just baptists.
You know how to keep a baptist from drinking all your beer when fishing? Bring two baptists. 🙂
