What is your opinion on the meaning of the last part of #19: "..but this item shall not be addressed on the face of the plat or map."
Meaning I don't include #19 in the list of items in the certification, or I can't specify the amount of the insurance, or...
Does anyone have current contact information on Gary Kent? He would know.
I have always read that to mean the amount of insurance required, or any discussion of the insurance policy, shall not be addressed. But it's still one of the checked items on Table A, so I always include it in the certification.
We have had a couple attorneys (or more often their paralegals) get bent out of shape when they are running through their checklist and it's not on there.
Seems strange to me that this item would be part of the table A items.?ÿ It seems like something that should be negotiated separately with the client.
I would say, just include number 19 in your certification and in your contract, just don??t disclose dollar amounts or details on the survey?

It means that they can ask for a certain level of insurance, and for you to make a statement about it, but in a separate document, not on the map. The thinking was that putting an insured amount on the map for one and all to see was like "chumming the water".?ÿ ?ÿ
The NSPS does a weekly podcast, and one of them a few months ago was an hour with Gary Kent discussing the new ALTA Standards. Item 19 was one of those things.?ÿ?ÿ
I sent you his email in pm.
Scroll down for the January 13 & 20 editions with Gary Kent. The most recent one also has Mr. Kent.
Right, I just mean it seems out of place with all the other map-type items in the list.?ÿ I would maybe expect to see it elsewhere in the document is all.
Not trying to be pedantic, but there is no "elsewhere". If there is an "elsewhere" it is to be referred to by item 20.
there is no "elsewhere"
Could that be the contract?
