Wow, that is quite an expanded agenda from even a few years back. Looks like teaming up with the ACSM has broadened ESRI's horizons a good bit. Even the FAA jumped on the wagon and is giving a talk about the Airports GIS program. I was surprised to see that [REDACTED] Geographics isn't giving a presentation

I thought it was going to be pretty much all GIS related. Perhaps interesting, but not related to what I do on a regular basis, and more GIS training than I need or want in one shot.

But there is plenty of other topics of interest that I may have to seriously consider attending.

Raising Land Surveyor Applicant Quality in New York
Author: Jennifer Mauer, NYSPALS

I find that to be an interesting class, I think they should compare picture IDs with the picture on the application when proctoring the test.

Beer Leg Summit

You all remember the Beer Summit?

I have previously proposed (and continue to lobby for) a Beer Leg Summit to be held in conjunction with the Survey Summit – the Summit at the Summit, if you will.

Even if you’re ambivalent about the Survey Summit agenda, you can’t realistically pass up the opportunity to participate in the Beer Leg Summit, can you?

We're seriously thinking about a "Summit at the Summit", just have to figure how many people would really attend, where to have it, costs, etc... Lots to consider but I think it would be a blast if we can get it organized and go for it! 🙂

So, is there going to be a Summit at the Summit? It's only a month away.

I dunno yet...As much as I'd love to do this, all of our traveling to the other conferences has depleted much of our savings so we have to be careful as to where we go now. At least until my magical lotto ticket hits the millions. 😛 😉 🙂

Sadly, I don't think it's going to happen. It's just not in the cards for us financially. We've made several trips to go to various conferences, mostly on our own dime, and unfortunately, it's time to stop doing that. Future trips will have to be dependent on us somehow making up the expenses and, with any luck, a little bit of profit to live on. 🙂

Beer Leg Summit

I did my registration last week, have a plane ticket, and a hotel reservation. It looks like I will be there. I will drink a beer for Angel and Wendell.

Beer Leg Summit

I'm happy to see the chatter about the summit -- the Conference Agenda has been updated.

Also just announced is the LightSquared Forum* that will take place-- allowing us to weigh in on the important issues. * website will undergo updates over the weekend with the latest content.

Wendell, et al, having a Beer Leg Summit (meeting) at the conference is a great idea-- email me if there's anything I can do to help.

What's your proximity to San Diego? Maybe you're the organizer.

So far, it's me and you and Steve Corley and maybe Jim Fleming.

All I know for sure is, Steve and I will have a beer someplace and call it the Beer Leg Summit unless more people show up and/or somebody puts together a bigger event. The bigger, the better.

Jim suggested Dick's Last Resort, which is okay with me. Anybody else planning to attend? Do we need a reservation?

😀

Rich

I'm still on the fence and will know for sure next week.

I ran into a former employer of mine in the publishing business (who shall remain nameless) for the first time last week and he mentioned sending me in place of their current editor who has family obligations that week; but I didn't leave that position on the best of terms so it's kind of up in the air.

You can count me in as well. I would imagine that Larry P will be there as well, but not sure what days Larry's planning to be there. I know that Jeff L., Larry P. and myself are presenting on Saturday, so they both may be able to join in if the schedule works.

Dick's looks like a pretty great place to me.

Rich, have you made hotel reservations yet? I am staying at the Double Tree 1515 Hotel Circle South. The convention center hotel is totaly out of my travel budget.

I found a room at the The Horton Grand Hotel at 311 Island Ave in the Gas Lamp District a couple of short blocks from the conference center for $150/night. Pretty good deal with a short walk. Right near Dick's, too. I should be able to stumble back to my room from there.
