A great resource for those who want to learn about the PLSS

This link will take you to a resource put together in 2011 explaining how Missouri was surveyed for the General Land Office (GLO).  The early pages describe how the system works in general plus provides guidance on how the instructions changed in the first hundred years.  There are 142 pages that can be printed, if desired.  One thing about Missouri is that the standard parallels are a greater distance apart than standard.  Thus the sections directly adjacent on the south side are huge.  Page 26 shows an example of how they dealt with this situation.  Prepare to be amazed.
