Thank you and thank you and thank you and thank you and thank you and thank you and..................................................................
Thank you to everyone who has helped me in so many ways over the first 134 months of this great forum for land surveyors around the world.?ÿ I have learned a great deal over those 134 months that could be directly applied to what I have been doing since the 1970's.?ÿ I have also learned a huge amount about the diversity of practices in the US and around the world.?ÿ Varas come to mind as an example.?ÿ Spanish land grants, longitude west of Washington, D.C., Burt's solar compass, perches, cattleways, anything over 25 feet in width being an official river, mining surveys and many, many other things that apparently have no connection to the lands that I survey.?ÿ Learning about what happens in other countries is always interesting.?ÿ This site has also provided a wealth of information (especially on the weekends) on subjects that are not directly tied to land surveying in any discernible way, yet might just come in handy someday.?ÿ That's everything from what is the best compound for laying bathroom tile to what not to do when coaching soccer or baseball or any sort of team of youngsters.?ÿ It is impossible to count the times when the laughter shared here is exactly what I needed to brighten my day.
Thank you to those of you who have paid attention to some of the technical information I have shared.?ÿ Thank you to those of you who followed my advice on business practices and my encouragement to research, research, research before even thinking about going to the field.?ÿ Thank you to all of you who have groaned at my jokes and wild stories.?ÿ A special thank you goes out to those of you who HAVE NOT tracked me down and punched my lights out for being a wisea$$ on a regular basis and for leading the spelling police.?ÿ And a special thank you for those who noticed my absence last Winter and took action to see if a fund should be set up quickly to buy me a flame-retardant suit for my one-way trip to a very hot place.
20,001 posts in 134 months works out to roughly 149.2537313 posts per month.?ÿ That's just a smidge under 5 per day.?ÿ Numerically, that seems like not very much.?ÿ But, this board needs more posts from more people.?ÿ We have witnessed other similar sites wither and die on the vine.?ÿ To mimic the standard plea for donations for certain charitable purposes.....................For only five posts per day you, too, can insure the longevity and quality of this great benefit to mankind........and land surveyors.
Wendell and Angel (Noodles) have provided us a great opportunity.?ÿ Let's make certain they may continue to do so.
Holy Cow
Congratulations from my side. I couldn't find any errors in that, which explains why you've been very quiet (proof reading) for the past few days.
PS I just found one.
Grazia!!!!
Thank you for all your great perspective and knowledge across the forum and beyond, and the the entertainment too.
Another reason why this site rocks!!!
I'll use my 1.207th post to mangle a line from Julius Caesar:
"I come to praise Cow, not to Berry him"?ÿ
Congratulations and thanks for the sage advice, humor, stories and level-headedness.
You are a true professional.?ÿ
@holy-cow is a true gem that only comes around once in a lifetime. In our case, we were lucky enough to entice him into the vortex on July 1, 2010, when this forum officially launched. We have been blessed ever since.
Mr. Cow, please accept my congratulations on this momentous occasion, but we are the ones who should be celebrating you. We can always count on your participation, whether it be for serious topics, silly responses or grammatical corrections. We thank YOU for keeping us on track. 🙂
How many keyboards have you worn out in 134 months?
This is Holy Cow's better half.?ÿ He is truly devoted to this blog and often calls it into evidence.?ÿ Please do not praise him too much as I still have to live with him.?ÿ He can get a big head.?ÿ All joking aside, I am amazed at the knowledge shared on this site.?ÿ Keep up the good work.?ÿ
Mrs. Holy Cow (I would rather not be called Mrs. Cow - negative connotations).
She is just jealous of all the news that gets shared here.?ÿ On a regular basis she will ask, "Did you hear (any news item) happened?"?ÿ The standard answer is, "Yes.?ÿ Saw that on SurveyorConnect yesterday."
Let's spare a thought for little Larry, the wallaby, whom you comforted on his last Christmas before his castration.
That was Nelson the baby Kangaroo on Santa Cow's lap shortly before Christmas of 2019.

I believe I am a better surveyor; and person, having read this message board all these many years. Thank you, everyone, for all you contribute.
@dougie?ÿ
That's the really great thing.?ÿ We become better simply by participating.?ÿ Better surveyor.?ÿ Better person.
The entire profession should tune in to this site to become both better surveyors and better people.
I feel that I have made so many friends here, but wouldn't recognize one in a thousand if they walked up to me on the street.

I'd know Wendell anywhere!
@dougie?ÿ
Had a nice chat with Leon Day (Ridgeline) from Utah a few weeks back.?ÿ He has moved a herd of cattle to a pasture owned by a friend of mine less than 10 miles from my house so they learn what water and moist grass taste like.?ÿ We may have crossed paths in 1978 in Logan, Utah but neither of us are sure of that.?ÿ Otherwise, all of our chats have been via SurveyorConnect and its predecessors.

@holy-cow I was going to say Mrs. Holy Cow would like to thank the forum for keeping him (mostly) occupied and outta her business??.
