The weather is in the 50's here today in southeast Nebraska, so dug up this beauty from June 1857.?ÿ Notes state 15"x13"x7".?ÿ I came up with 17"x16"x8".?ÿ Unusually small "1/4" markings at the very top.?ÿ Stone was found upside down.?ÿ?ÿ Many years ago when the roads were first being built, the road grader crews were instructed to dig a hole deeper and place the stone below the surface.?ÿ I don't think they understood that the stones were marked, so sometimes I find them upside down or on the side.?ÿ ?ÿThis is my so many original stones still exist here.?ÿ

You are lucky.?ÿ Most of the stones here were in place until the car hit them then tossed to the side of the road to be never found again.
