Presently running Windows Mobile 5 on the Ranger, and ActiveSync 4.5. Will the Ranger take the update to WM6? If so, does the process wipe memory, programs, and data like install of new OS on a computer?

Today, watched Trimble's webinar for the new photo attaching hardware and software that sends pics to files with georeferencing. This version is more generic in that it enables most digital cameras instead of a limited few.

http://www.trimble.com/trimpix_pro.shtml

The link bewteen camera and DC is made over Wi-Fi not BlueTooth; but, requires WM6 OS on whatever DC.

Anyone using TrimPix? Any advice for the Ranger about WM6, and compatibility with TrimPix??

thanks,
dla

My recollections from our D/C gurus here is that the Ranger X series units are not compatible with WM6.

David: I have not heard of any update to Rangers/TSC2's to Windows mobile 6.

All the Trimpix stuff I have seen has been for Geo's, and Nomads and other Windows Mobile 6 devices.

I would expect we will see a new hardware box running WM 6 rather than an update to the Ranger/TSC2.

Just my opinion!!!

I do not have any knowledge of products that are not in the current Trimble catalog.
