So a little off topic but as the title suggests, I'm looking to provide access to multiple external hard drives via a USB hub connected to a Netgear AC1750 router. Was not sure if anybody had experience connecting multiple hard drives to a router? I've seen the videos of just one hard drive connected to a router and it works but each of these three drives is smaller (1TB each) and each has a dedicated purpose for various business related needs (rather not mix/combine here). Granted I'm only 10' away from any of them typically (rare that I need them when truly remote from the house) but I do need them accessible for storage & sharing to multiple laptops and a desktop that are all on the same wifi network here at the house and it'd be nice to not have to unplug them from another machine each time. I'm not overly tech savvy but figured I'd ask here first seeing as some seem to be; thanks in advance!
I use Syncthing for that task. It syncs various folders on various computers. Most are on my LAN, but some are off site and are syncing via the internet. Caution! delete or modify a file on one machine and all the others change too. Copy the files you want to sync, backup as normal.
I repeat: COPY the files into the Folder you sync. Don't sync your only copy!!!

PS: I use it for off site backup, my personal cloud
@peter-ehlert I will have to look into that method - had not thought about doing it that way to be honest

Please tell me they are all backed up properly. One key question is, why separate drives, instead of a single drive with three folders or partitions? A single drive makes this task very easy, as well as simplifies backup.
I'm in the process of trying to back them up to a cloud based setup. Currently there has just been another (back up) drive for each. and multiple drives due to them each being associated with a different business entity
I insist upon keeping an unaltered raw file of all the data collected on one drive. Most of the time this information is only opened once by a transfer program for editing purposes to correct spellings and to adjust any codes as necessary and then saved to another drive.
The information in this second drive is for entering into Carlson or other programs to be transitioned into the working system for the project requirements and saved as such for future use on those projects.
Other altered files that were created by translating, rotating, adjusted or manipulated in any other reason to become the final copy used to create drawings and other files are kept on another drive.
So I have A, B and C external drives and multiple user thumb drives of the day that have the same basic data in three different source forms and a backup of each on a master external drive.
You can hook up a drive to you router similar to the WD 4TB mycloud storage device.
Then you will need to partition it to as many drive letters as you need and move the relevant data to each drive. You can then assign users with specified privileges to access the data on each drive letter.?ÿ
