I have an old Trimble 5700 gps receiver that I am trying to get running. I am looking for a driver so I can connect it to my computer, anybody know where I can get one? I am trying to connect it to my computer via usb cable, all I need is to get the information off of it.

I have never used a USB to download a 5700, always a 9 pin to limo. I think the program you want is Trimble data transfer and it's a free download.

Big thing You're going to encounter is that the older 5700s have old firm ware that will need to be updated.?ÿ The time code from the satellites will not be in a usable format without the update.?ÿ There are ways to "clean" it up, but that takes time and effort.?ÿ I think if I remember correctly, the cost to "license" the upgraded firmware is like 600 dollars, and that was last year 2017.

?ÿ

As far as using USB versus LEMO,?ÿ USB will crush it for speed, and as mentioned before, a CF card reader is another option.?ÿ just don't forget the card, because the receiver wont tell you it's sitting in the reader at your desk, an hour from you're realizing it wont be able to store data.?ÿ Yes.?ÿ I have experience in what NOT to do with the Trimble universe.?ÿ Happy to help anyway I can.
