Just curious if there are any users of Traverse PC on this forum? If so I would like to hear some reviews of how well it works. Not necessary how great one may think it is but the true advantages verses Carlson or C3D?
Any other thoughts?
I use TPC and am willing to discuss it with you. The outright advantage vs. C3D and Carlson is price. Functionality, each one is different, but they all will get a survey project done.
Are you shopping for CAD?

I am looking for a cheaper alternative to C3D that doesn't require years of experience to master, I can load on our field guys laptops and can allow for them to draft up some survey quickly. 1400 for the premium is peanuts for software.
yes, it is a good price. they want a fair amount of money for updates and/or maintenance, but still good overall.
they seem to be a cool bunch of cats there, i think you will enjoy collaboration with them.

I use it mainly for entering and checking descriptions, I like the fact that you can view the drawing as you enter data and if you mis-enter something you change that one item and it automatically adjust the traverse, no reentering the whole thing.
Can you open Autocad Files with it??
I have been a TPC user since 2007 and really can't say enough about it.
The software is surveyor specific which is very nice as your not trying to figure out lots of cadd commands. The way it works in controlling drafting of features, boundaries etc. is pretty slick and keeps you from dealing with loads of Layers as in cadd.
The price is good for the Professional Version, which I highly recommend, and the updates which might seem expensive gives you the latest software version all updates/ fixes as well as GREAT Technical support. Probably the best Technical support I have used in the last 30 years. They listen to what you have to say implementing ideas from users that improve the system.
As far as working with cadd files, there is a cadd viewer, open your .dwg file in the viewer, select the lines/poly-lines you want in TPC and export. Then just convert them to "traverses" for computations, drafting options, etc.

I was wondering the same thing, including all .dwg files from R14 to now, and does it retain all the correct data?
Can you export AC compatible files to others that are using current versions of Autode$k ?

Yep, do it all the time.
Complete a topographic / boundary survey for engineering company and TraversePC has options to assign Layers names to traverses that the engineering company uses. Works great.

You can take Gary's word for it...would a surveyor who looks like Tom Selleck lead you astray? 😉

Yes. It lets you choose your Coordinate Reference system and will convert back and forth as desired.

Thanks for all the information on TPC. I think I may just buy a 3 month subscription and give it a test drive. Too bad they don't offer a 30 day trial? Kinda strange that they don't..

Just received and email - 25% off Sale on all editions!
I 2nd Microsurvey for a field survey software solution.
It's great for doing hotel room calculations. I only use it for drafting in a pinch.
Been using TPC since v2.5 (DOS) days. Written for Surveyors by Surveyors. Can't say enough about their program ease of use and technical support.
It is not unusual to get transferred to John Balcomb (one of two founding Fathers) if Mark Lull is busy helping someone else.

I bought a 3 month subscription for Traverse PC Premium. I have access to C3D 2017, Power Geopak V8i ss4, and TBC with Advanced Drafting. I hate them all. Traverse PC is so cool! It really does work like a survey is performed, I have messed with it at home after hours and I have been able to do everything. Still need to set up the point coding and linework stuff, but that will come in time. So far so good :gammon:

Have you been able to "set up the point coding and linework stuff"?
