I need to pull the trigger on new software before my son graduates college in May.
I have been using Microstation with Eagle Point for 15 years.
Never upgraded much so I am behind the times pretty much with being able to communicate with others.
Love what I am using and it does everything I need, but I want to walk him into a more up to date atmosphere.
The new will obviously have to have seamless microstation capabilities.

I would just make that his first assignment when he shows up to work.
Seems like a reasonable take on it to me, setting up a system is a good thing to know how to do.
If you want to stick to the Micostation platform, I think you might be limited on 3rd party software that runs on top of that, sure others will read and write a DGN file if that is all you need....
MicroStation(Bentley)does offer some surveying stuff, the PowerSurvey package might be worth looking at as one option.
