With the latest build of Carlson (130120), I'm noticing an eventual slow-down to complete freeze. It usually happens after about 10-15 min. of use. It's just with Carlson--the rest of my computer works fine.
I realize this could be another issue with my computer causing this, but I just wanted to check to see if anyone else was experiencing this.

Thanks!

I just got on the board to pose essentially the same question.

I am looking at a new PC and figured I would finally upgrade my drafting software. I downloaded the demo version of Carlson Survey 2013 w/ Intellicad to try out. It looks like it would fit the bill perfectly for what I am looking for. I would just need to spend a little time getting used to icons and menus being slightly different.

After I have used it for about 10 minutes, it slows to the point that the mouse cursor movements are choppy. It is so slow that I would call it frozen. If I stop doing anything, it will eventually catch up with whatever I was trying to do.

I double checked the system requirements and found that even testing it on my old PC I am well in excess of the system needed to run the software.

I definitely would not buy it based on this issue. Hopefully someone will have some insight into the matter.

I've not been experiencing these types of issues but did relay your symptoms into the Carlson technical support team this morning. They suggested you explore the various discussion items detailed in Carlson Knowledgebase Article 865 (Troubleshooting graphics performance in IntelliCAD 7.2 with potential focus on REGENTOOLTIP and graphics card driver updates).

I hope this information helps.

I know the Carlson 2012 stand alone will do that if it is not authorized properly. We upgraded to 2013 but continued to use 2012 and after an automatic update it started that. Since our license was for 2013 we ended up removing the 2012 and just using the saveas 2012 option in 2013 and all is well.

Thanks for all the help.
I contacted support this morning and have an open case number. I've tried the suggestions in the article and no luck. My drivers are up-to-date.
I've been using 2013 since it was released and have had no problems until this latest update--Again, it still could be something else going on with my computer, but I don't think I've changed anything.

One thing I have noticed, the slow-down and eventually freezing occurs every time I'm using the "Annotate" menu.

Thanks for the tip Ladd.

That fixed my issues with slowing down - updated the video driver.

I then lost the pull-down menus. No problem, was able to reload and save. Now they are working fine.

Did a lot survey drawing in the demo mode. It took about twice as long as usual, but I expect most of the extra time was due to how automatic it was for me to select the commands I wanted on my older software.
