Does anyone have or know where to get a dongle for TDS survey Link. I switched to Carlson Survey and need a easier way to upload/download to my spectra data collectors.

Sorry, don't have one.?ÿ Most modern DC's can upload/download to/from a USB stick.?ÿ But maybe you have an older DC without that ability.

Are you looking for the serial port one or the USB?

Why not just use Windows Mobile Device Center?

If you go to the Survey pull down menu in Carlson Survey and select "Data Collectors" it will pull up a menu that allows you to select what sort of collector you have.?ÿ TDS is on there but it is only for communicating via a serial connection and expects you to be downloading a CR5 or RW5 file from an HP48GX or a Husky data collector.

But if you select [Carlson/CSI Mobile] it will pull up the SurvCOM program that interfaces with Carlson software on Windows Mobile devices.?ÿ On the left side, it will display your PC hard drive directory listing.?ÿ in that pane, you'll want to navigate to where you want your downloaded data to go.

On the right-hand pane it is looking for, but of course not finding, a Carlson data collector.?ÿ However, if you've taught your data collector to connect via Windows Mobile Device Center, it will see the unit.?ÿ You will want to surf the directory tree to find the Survey Pro Jobs folder.?ÿ That is where you'll find your files if you accept the default location for storing converted files.

Since Carlson does not read Spectra Precision .survey files, you'll need to use the Export menu in Survey Pro to convert the .survey file to a text file, or a csv file.?ÿ You could use a CR5 file but you'd have to convert it once you got it on the PC because Carlson will not read it in without converting it.?ÿ If you need the raw data, you'll need to use the Export menu to create a version 4 Job/Raw file.?ÿ The Carlson raw data editor will read that raw file if you change the extension on the downloaded file to RW5.

As for Survey Link, if you could find a hardware lock, if your Rangers have anything later than and old version 4 Survey Pro on them, you can't really do much with Survey Link.

Jerry's instructions above are excellent.

My workflow is to export a *.job, *.raw, and a *.csv file everyday to backup the day's work. I will then use Carlson's Raw Data Editor to Import a TDS file, and it will read in the TDS file, and you will be able to "process" it. It works for us.
