My laptop was plugged into the internet. Lightning struck the phone system. Parts were falling out of the modem.
There is such a plethora of specs.
Can anybody point me in the right direction? I need another laptop.
Thanks,
Nate
Budget?
I'm trying to make budget subject to specs.
Tons of laptops, available. I'm thinking loveno, or HP envy. Or Toshiba.
Battery life has greatly improved, in the last few years.?ÿ
?ÿ
hp sucks.
I have a Dell and Lenovo is alright. Spent 899.00usa
Need min 32G of Ram
There's the price jump usually.
4G video min.
Search dell deals, and NSPS MEMBERS?ÿ GET 15% discount but dell slashes already .
Low level gaming computer is what I have 2017, it's now got a m.2 drive and I use it for C3D and arcpro and it's more than capable.

Something you might look into is Dell Certified Refurbished. Decent lease return CAD laptops for $800.?ÿ
A thought...graphics cards, always considered a necessity for CAD, are astronomically expensive right now. With graphics built into some Intel processors I wonder just how necessary they really are if you aren't rendering 3d models and so forth.
I would not go HP. Long gone are the days when HP was bombproof quality. They are a light duty consumer grade products company now.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ
I offered some specs at this post a while back that should be fairly relevant. I hope this information helps.
?ÿ
For a couple of months I used a laptop with an integrated card. It worked. Do realize that the integrated graphics does use the RAM on the motherboard, effectively giving you a bit less RAM than you might think.
Just looked at their outlet. For right around $1000 (including shipping, but not sales tax), you can get a gaming laptop with an RTX2060....
nate- bought THIS very one in an emergency a couple years ago, installed carlson on it in the parking lot, and proceeded to calc what i needed for the job that day and have, until the last couple months, run my entire business on it.?ÿ i'm typing this on it right now, and have also merged and edited a 300 acre surface on it.?ÿ iow- it's done everything i've ever needed it to.?ÿ zero complaints. (well, other than occasionally a windows update will re-install the touch screen, which you'll want to turn off/uninstall to get cad to act right.)
?ÿ
I picked up a Lenovo legion 5 a couple weeks ago...put Carlson (embedded AutoCad) on it to bring in the field. Works great, and I think it was around the $1500 mark.
@dmyhill?ÿ
I have been told, 3rd hand from a Intel engineer, that if you hook a graphics card into a machine with integrated graphics the 2 will fight each other to a draw for resources.
It's a known issue. You just have to specify the application handling.
It's not really an issue of deep consequences though.

There was a time when I trusted Dell, many years ago. Then there was a period where they were total crap. Then they seemed to make a comeback in recent years. My current computer, which I purchased 3 years ago, is a Dell XPS 7590, i9, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and I love it. It has never missed a beat and it's soooooo quiet.
This purchase was the first time I ever added an extended or pro warranty. Two days ago, Dell's "Support Assist" app notified me that the memory was failing, and automatically prompted me to submit a support request. All I had to do was verify my office location, phone number, date/time of service and it took care of the rest. Yesterday morning (less than 24 hours later), a Dell support tech showed up at my office and had the memory replaced and tested in 10 minutes. No charge for anything. The funny thing is, I never noticed any lack of performance or anything -- but somehow their scanner thought something was wrong. Who am I to argue? The tech let me keep the old memory just in case it really is okay so I could use it on another laptop.
So yeah. Three years and no slack in performance. Hoping I get another 2 or 3 years out of it, and that seems likely.
