Good morning fellow BeerLeggers,
I am in the market for a PC upgrade; hoping for something that can handle ACAD C3d with several XREFS at a time, three or four projects open at a time, some PDF's open at a time, and deed and plat viewers online, (all at the same time). Will also need for point cloud registry and processing from 3D scans and aerials
32 gig of RAM enough?
Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen?
How many cores?
what spec on video/graphics processor?
?ÿ
Please and thank you.
Intel.
No less than 64G, it's 2022, it's the thing that matters most. RAM equals efficiency and effective use of computers.
i7 is great, don't buy into the bleeding edge newest chip hype.
i9 is newer but check the chip specs on the INTEL site. Often it's not worth the money.
XEON allows for ECC Memory, and is far superior but WAY more expensive.
?ÿ
In all seriousness, check the D@???? website for deals on workstation laptops, only buy something that has upgradeable ram beyond 64G, and a video card with min of 8G
?ÿ
Ping me for more computer dork speak.

Check Boxx.com?ÿ They specialize in purpose built systems in either desktop or laptop configurations.?ÿ I have not purchased from them, but you can gauge specs from their builds.
I've been shopping, too. My opinion is that I'm going to wait a few more months and give chip prices a chance to fall some more. Especially the GPUs.?ÿ If you are the sort of person, like me, who has to ask these questions you are best to stick with Intel.?ÿ?ÿ
@va-ls-2867 i just did; good website and good chat feature with sales consultants
