Working on a railroad project, In the field, we built a jig that allowed us to locate the center of each rail, and then using that same jig nailed a mag-nail into the tie between the 2 shots. See the pic:

The design engineer would like the following information:
- A point created at the midpoint between the RR shots; the elevation for this point should be the mean between the 2 RR elev's.
- A comparison of the position of the midpoint to the position of the RRCL point.
I'd like to figure out a way to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible. Anyone ever done a process like this before? Any help would be appreciated. I'm working in LDD 3. Thank you.

If you have a 3D line drawn between the 2 RR shots, you could create a 3D polyline or profile from snapping to the midpoint of all of the lines drawn between the RR shots. Then draw a 3D polyline or profile snapped to the RRCL shots. You could compare the 2 profiles.
