Any suggestions on what would be a good way to do a raster to vector conversion? Of course, I'd like it to be quick and accurate and cheap. But usually you can't have all of those.
WinTopo is a free conversion program but the resulting files seem large and there is lots of clean up work to do.
I'm still on Land Desktop 3 and also have Adobe Acrobat Pro. Would either of these software products I already have perform this work, or a part of it?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
Big Al - I recommend that you go to http://www.theswamp.org and do a search. Or better yet sign up and pose your question on the Vertically Challenged forum. The people over there really know their CAD.

What are you doing? How many maps, what kind of maps?

Thanks for the suggestions.
At the moment, I'm working with about 10 tax maps for a historical mapping project. If there were a relatively easy way to do this, I'd go ahead with this raster to vector conversion, as it would add value to the project.
But if its expensive or extraordinarily time consuming, I probably will avoid it.
But, I can see the value of this for all sorts of projects in the future, so wanting to learn what's involved now.
