I am trying to set up a gmail IMAP email account on a TSC2. I can't seem to connect to the email server, and I think it is because I can't specify the correct settings - probably the incoming and outgoing server ports (993 & 465). There doesn't seem to be anywhere to add settings other than name, email address, password, incoming server (imap.gmail.com), out going server (smtp.gmail.com), and requirement for SSL. When trying to connect, I get a "Timed Out" error.

Any advice?

First up - I know nothing about the TSC-2 or email on it, but here are some quick thoughts

Your time out error does suggest no connection

IMAP uses port 143 , but SSL/TLS encrypted IMAP uses port 993 .
POP uses port 110 , but SSL/TLS encrypted POP uses port 995 .
SMTP uses port 25 , but SSL/TLS encrypted SMTP uses port 465.

Many providers block Port 25 as an anti-spam measure

You need SSL ON for GMail

Sometimes you can specify a port with a colon after the address ie gmail.com:993

Can you ping imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com from your controller? (they respond for me here)

The best that I can tell is that this is a security issue. I keep getting the verify login and password, though I know they are correct. Google and Microsoft do not allow "less secure apps". Not surprising when you realize how old Microsoft Windows Mobile v5.0x is - 10+ years???
FROM GOOGLE: "Some non-Google apps and devices use less secure sign-in technology, which could leave your account vulnerable. You can turn off access for these apps (which we recommend) or choose to use them despite the risks." ==> This didn't work.
Does anyone have a free, basic email account that works by imap or pop in the ranger/tsc2? I am trying to email points/job files from/to the field. Workaround?

I haven't tried to do this in years, but could you use Internet Explorer on the TSC2 to log into your gmail account and use it that way?

Yes, but this is problematic. the biggest problem is that gmail wants to open the attachment in Explorer and I can't find a way to save the file. I want to just download the attachment.
