As with all secondhand goods, you should check if they are still repairs and parts available should anything happen. My experience with HP are that they are workhorses but their ink and parts are expensive.

I can't comment on prices as I do not stay in europe.?ÿ

(1) Make sure parts are available.

(2) Newer plotters are faster and easier to use.

(3) I only paid $2,000 or so for my new Canon D size plotter.?ÿ

@sireath

A few of issues I recently ran into regarding plotter.

1) Windows 10 doesn't have drivers for alot of older HP plotters. No driver, no workee.

2) The newer plotters will only work on 32 bit computers.

3) HP plotters are very particular that you use their inkjet cartridges. Can you find a supplier?

Old HP plotters were way ahead of their competition, but now they've taken on the Microsoft strategy. I switched to Canon out of disgust for trying to deal with HP's BS.

I think you can buy a new plotter for around $800 or so depending on what size plot you need. 11X 18 plotters are only a couple of hundred dollars.

My advice is to avoid old stuff. It's a pain in the ass to deal with.

Good luck whatever your decision is.

@bruce-small?ÿ Hmm,.... just bought a HP250 plotter.?ÿ Works fine on my 64bit desktop. Wireless connection. Priced right-I recall about $US1000 w/ shipping to Hawaii (occasionally a deal breaker). Compact unit compared to my old HP500. Downside; may be committed to HP ink. I hear the firmware tests for official HP ink and will not operate w/ 2nd party ink cartridges.

PS Anybody out there needs cartridges for the HP500 or 800 series designjet, LMK.

Correction:Old plotters work on 32 bit computers. New plotters only on 64 bit computers. Something to check on before you buy or you'll find yourself having to buy a new computer like I did.

Don't get me started on doing that.???¦
