This pertains to the TDS 200c.
I have learned things. That lead to questions.
I have been told that TDS software is programmed to only run on the computer it is sold with. Does this mean that it will only run on that CPU? Or does that mean it will only run on that Compact Flash card?
Can I replace the 32 GB compact flash card, with a 128 MB Compact flash card?
I think the actual TDS software resides on the CF (Compact Flash) card. Thus, I could potentially copy the CF card, to a larger CF card, and it (being run on the ORIGINAL CPU would run. Also, I could (potentially) get a FASTER card, and it would run faster.
This also leads to questions.
I (of course) don't wish to do anything wrong, either morally, or legally. But, since I own the TDS computer, and a seat of the software, all I am doing is making it a bit more useful. The software is not being modified. (I am not that literate)
I have the unit I got from Payden all apart again... it still had issues. I found it had a bad ribbon connection to the keyboard. (Somebody has been inside it before)
The display screen on it is very easy to replace. (Unlike the 200c, where it is GLUED in)
OR, to move from unit to unit. This unit is in near perfect condition, cosmetically, but won't run right yet. I expect to re-install the flex ribbon, (AKA flat cable) I bought some shoe goo today, and have designed a way to bond that end of the flat cable in place, with a plastic jam, that will probably solve it, and get it going.
I don't know why I am like this. Just fixing things... or breaking them worse!!
Anyway, any info I can get... will make me a better TDS fixer! (HA)

I've wondered the same about my ancient Jett running SurvCE. It's on a CF card buried in the unit. The practical answer is probably that you can clone it easily and write to a larger card.
The technically correct answer though, lies in the EULA. Got a copy? Read it and see what it says.

Its long gone.....
It still is being run on only one computer.

Well then...no pain no gain. Try it!
This might work:

I'd first try it with a card the same size. I think 32gb will set you back $30 (unless you have one kicking around). 128gb cards are $100+/-

You're talking GB, but I think Nate is talking MB. The MB CF cards are getting harder to find, but they're pretty cheap when you find them.

My guess is that you're right. In that case, 128 mb will set him back $12, and that's without looking on eBay, lol.
Be careful though... some OS and computers can not handle the bigger cards. Need to check the specs to see what they can and cannot accept. I had a controller that could only go to 4Gig (I believe). It has been awhile but it is like the old floppy drives that could only handle 512 and not the new 720s. LOL.
Per the bigger CF cards. I believe you can partition the cards to appear to have a smaller capacity so they will work with older devices.
OK, an update on the TDS 200c DC screen. I got my new screen in the mail from Calif yesterday. It comes with NO mounting tape. The tape that is on it, looks like a black foam tape, that is double sided. Does ANYBODY know what tape to buy? There are a number of products on ebay, and on the internet that call themselves double sided touch screen tape. But, they vary in specifications. I (Obviously) only get one go at this. If you know what is OEM, or better, please let me know.
Thanks again.

Don't have the OEM specs, but those foam tapes are all very similar. How thick are you looking for? One word of advice...If there's a way to boot the unit up PRIOR to sticking the screen down, do so. Those tapes' adhesives are usually very aggressive, and if for some reason it doesn't work, you'll not be scraping the tape off and risking physical damage to the screen before returning it. BTW, if you can't find what you're looking for, I have an assortment of tapes that might work.

And
Nate did you get the TDS 200c up and running?:-)
I replaced the CF card in my TSCE with a 16GB card. It's one of the so called "industrial" ones that are supposed to handle wider temperature ranges. It was a cheap upgrade.
Not up and running yet. I have been out of town. And, I need some sort of tape to install the touch screen, and I have not yet figured out what tape it needs.
