Anyone know where to find a template for AutoCAD with all the levels and linetypes for NYS DOT?
Not sure about NYSDOT; but they can't be much different than WSDOT, can they:-S

Reach out to Lee Green, he posts here often.

NYSDOT works in microstation as you may already know, but here is a link to their support files anyway.......

You are NOT going to find a simple TEMPLATE for AutoCAD to provide NYSDOT compliant CAD standards.
NYSDOT cadd standards are extremely customized for Microstation ONLY. Not only are there hundreds of levels, but there are many custom line styles, many custom fonts, and many custom cell library's required.
What are you doing, NYSDOT Design Topo Mapping or ROW Mapping.
For Topo Mapping I would recommend you setup your data collection codes similar to NYSDOT standards. Then send the RAW data to a consultant to draw the mapping with InRoads survey, and this will create the DGN file in the correct CAD standards. Or you can purchase Bentley Power Survey and D.I.Y.

Hi Lee
How are you?
You beat me to the response.
Sure wish I was using MicroStation again.
Chuck
I do NOT think anyone has a similar level structure to NYSDOT.
Here is a snap shop of the 1351 levels NYSDOT use just for survey.

We're doing some ROW stuff for a consultant and I'm having trouble getting the line types to match up. Guess I'm going to have to look into getting inroads...so expensive to buy another piece of software for one project.
I know I can't get everything working...was hoping for some layers and linetypes though.
Hi Chuck,
Nice to here from you. I'm busy, busy this time of year. Tomorrow I'll be close to your neck of the woods, in Queens, NY working on the Kew Gardens project training NYSDOT. It is a crazy intersection on the Van Vyck Expy with three elevated bridges on top of each other and involves Union Turn Pike, Jackie Robinson Pkwy, Grand Central Pkwy, and 80th Ave. Fun, Fun, Fun. Next I head to the other end of the state (Buffalo, NY) to do training and setup of machine control systems.

Why would you not ask NYS DOT??!!
Lee...
Fun, fun, fun, huh? I think you forgot the sarcasm font, maybe not.
My idea of fun is going out in the middle of about 80,000 acres of essentially virgin forested land. Be there next week...

Ask them for what? Just curious
Because they do not use AutoCAD and do not support it.
Isn't he asking for an AutoCAD template?
Then the answer to your question is "an AutoCAD template."
So you are going to do work for them in AutoCAD and attempt to convert it Mirostation?
Poor idea - never works correctly. That is expressly prohibited by the DOT's we work for/with.
