NOTICE: TRIMBLE BUSINESS CENTER Owners...
Trimble Business Center Software Maintenance Updates
Trimble Business Center (TBC) is critical to the workflow of day to day operations. If you currently own TBC and do not have an Extended Warranty Coverage on the software, you will be faced with additional fees to update it in the future. Please note the following Reinstatement Policy from Trimble:
Reinstatement Part Numbers & Policy
A reinstatement part number will need to be ordered if your warranty coverage has lapsed by more than 90 days. If your warranty coverage has lapsed for more than 12 months, a warranty reinstatement will not be available and the purchase of a new software license or upgrade package will be required.

This reinstatement Policy is effective April 1, 2014.

The 2 primary things that bother me the most about these updates:

1. A lot of the so called updates are merely bug fixes that should be free because the software was flawed when it was sold to me.

2. I am forced to buy functionalities I don't need or want.

Agreed.

There is a new 'Spectra Precision Survey Office' (SPSO) item on the latest pricelist. It looks like a new 'Complete-64 Bit' license offering, at a reduced price.

I know that SPSO and TBC are very close to the same. And I know that there are slight but significant differences between them. So it may be worth getting a demo copy of SPSO, and comparing prices.

The competition may be from within.
