Hello All

Any one using the latest Microsurvey products ? I'm contemplating an upgrade from my 2010 version. Seemed like the last stable version. The 2013 sent me off the updates. I just tried a part of the 2016 and the 3d design function 3d offset does not work correctly. Is this version reasonably bug free ?

Any and all feedback will be appreciated.

thanks
Alan Gallant, NSLS

If you end up purchasing 2016 or -17 please let everyone here know how it works. I too run 2010 which is stable, I had an older version of 2010 but to my dismay, was forced to purchase a full license of 2015 to get the updated stable version of 2010, if that makes any sense (to me it didn't) I've tried 2015 but don't like it, mainly because it is too slow, there are delays doing simple commands like move or delete that make it cumbersome to use. If 2016, -17 is anything like 2015, I'll hold off as absolutely long as possible before upgrading.

A guy might be using 2010 while working for Company A. Five years later he is with Company B and wants to use 2010 again. He finds he has to purchase a full license of 2015 to get access to 2010. Not saying that is what happened with Roger, but in that context it does make sense, and would be true.

I'm very pleased that we finally have a representative of Microsurvey posting here. Please continue, and visit us often.

With all due respect, I would hold off on telling me that my experience was "false", it was my own experience, not yours. And yes, I was not technically "forced" to, no one put a gun to my head. But the the early version of 2010 that I was licensed for, was unstable and buggy, 2009 had the same problems and Microsurvey agreed. I went round and round w/ them and I'll assure you that the $ 2k check cleared my bank account. My computer has been bought w/ in the last year and is overly powered to run the program. (i7, quad core 3.6ghz, 32gb ram, 64bit) Are you an employee of Microsurvey? I would gladly accept a refund.
I have used Microsurvey for many years and I think it's overall a great program, made for surveyors. I especially like the raw data editor, it's a powerful tool that gives you a complete picture of what has happened in the field. But, I do honestly have to say that this last experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Alan I can't directly answer your question re 3D offset (will look at that later) but as a user since 3.0 (think it was thst) I can say 2016 is very good and not the crash prone problematic program from all previous versions.
That must be tempered against a new Win 10 Pro, i5 Quadro K2400 (?- not sure but wasn't cheap ), 16 gb ram, SSD.
However all past machines were high end, not off the shelf.
2016 runs all day without hitches, but it still has graphic issues which aren't serious.

2017. Nothing there really got me excited but no doubt will look more serious when it appears.

I'd suggest try 2016, it will run alongside other versions and see how you go.
There's definitely a leap from 2010 to 2016.

I'm not a Microsurvey user, but this has been one of my issues with Carlson(Intellicad), AutoCad and Civil 3d. I was using AutoCAD 2002 before upgrading and after a year, I still can't get accustomed to that delay. With AutoCAD 2002 and previous versions you could type and mouse click as fast as you were capable of without any problem.
