Hi Guys,

I really hope someone can help me out. I a, using ACAD Civil 3D and I really need help learning how to use Mapclean. I want it to mark all my over shooters, under shooters, gaps, and overlapping lines/objects. Does anyone use this function? I dont want to use third party software. I need to learn how to clean up my boundary/base maps prior to annotating my maps. Currently the surveyor in charge does this using ACAD 2008.... But I am trying to learn to do everything in Civil 3d from out of the box ACAD. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to compare your record data to measured? Ive always used mapclean to erase double lines, and generally clean up ugly drawings (usually from architects). I've never used it on my own drawings. Have you seen it used for other purposes?

Hi Claudia,

I'm thinking you are referring to the topological cleanup features that the old AutoCAD Map use to have within its GIS functions to eliminate any overshoots or undershoots, is that correct?

I spent a lot of time with Map while in private practice preparing mapping data for input into various GIS systems for utility districts. Unfortunately, I never used it in Civil 3D but I imagine it is similar.

If you cant find anyone else by next week, let me know and maybe I can help.

Hope you guys had a nice Christmas
Ric

Hey guys,

Thanks for responding. When the surveyor runs his closures in ACAD 2008, the program shows him where there are mistakes in his line work. I want to learn how to do this in Civil 3d. I was wondering if any surveyors clean up their line work using said program.

Thanks Ric! I definitely will. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too! 🙂

You mean like a mapcheck closure sheet? There are also tools to check topo linework for crossing breaklines. Let me know which one.
