We just updated to the latest version of MAGNET Field. I was looking for changes. We did some total station work yesterday. I went to enter temperature and pressure on the FC-5000. The single button "To Total Station" now has a button "From Total Station" beside it. Are there total stations out there that have onboard temperature and pressure sensors? In the past, I have not seen any temperature or pressure data stored in raw data. That would be a good idea.

Also, I used the traverse routine to create a lot in manual mode. I went to edit points, and there was a total station icon next to my occupied point.

These are the only two changes that I have noticed so far.

Trimble has had pressure sensors built into the S-series instrument for years.?ÿ The last Topcon I used was a GPT-9003 robot and I never saw anything about a built in pressure sensor in the instrument specs or in the DC software.

?ÿ

Okay, so with the new software I can send that information to my FC-5000. To your knowledge, is that information stored in raw data?

@field-dog In Trimble Access the answer is yes.?ÿ Each time I do a station setup the pressure is read from the gun and displayed on the DC where I can change the temperature.?ÿ The pressure, temp, and my settings for earth curvature and refraction correction are stored with the instrument setup record.

With Topcon I don't know.?ÿ I once complained that TopSurv was not storing a record in raw data when a job was translated or rotated. This lead to an issue where if I needed to change a rod height and recalculate the coordinates, TopSurv would effectively undo my prior translation/rotation.?ÿ When I submitted that and several other bugs to my dealer, the response from Topcon said that they didn't believe that translate/rotate info belonged in the raw data file.?ÿ I was flabbergasted and soon switched to Carlson and ultimately to Trimble Access.

Best answer I can give is to say experiment with it then look in the raw to see if it is storing the pressure & temp or if it is just adjusting the data on the fly and storing the resulting coordinates.?ÿ
