I use Carlson 2010, and have a hard time getting certain line types. Specifically utilities with letter designations in them such as:
---SS------SS----

I have some of these but they have different properties to them, such as the LTSCALE, text size, font or distance between letters. I want to get a consistent set of them to use. Where would one go to get that? Or how do I create them?

Any suggestions would help.

PM me through this site and send me your email address. I will send you a copy of my acad.lin file. You can cut and paste the linetypes that you want into your SURV.lin file and have everything you need. I have one set of linetypes for field located utilities and another set for utilities taken from plans. Most clients like to be able to tell them apart. The file covers ss, sd comm, elec, water, etc.

Under the "Annotate" menu, "Line Types", "Change Polyline Line Types"

You'll have several options there as well as a "User Defined" option. That will allow you to use any text string you wish on a line type.

That will allow him to assign a linetype to individual lines, but will not allow him to assign a linetype to a layer or to draw a linetype "bylayer". To do that, you have to have the linetypes loaded in the *.lin file.

Pick one that you have that you are happy with and use it as a model to edit your *.lin file (in AutoCAD it is acad.lin).

For example:

*BWFENCE,---X---X
A, .08, -.08, .08, -.08, .08, [X,standard,x=.04,y=-.04,s=.08,u=0], -.04,.08,-.08,.08,-.08,.08, [X,standard,x=.04,y=-.04,s=.08,u=0], -.04

Just copy paste and change the name "BWFENCE" and change the symbols "X" to the desired value.

Note the above code won't work for you because I had to insert spaces to overcome the error generated by the forum software.
