Does anyone have any experience with Civil 3D writing your legal descriptions? I see there is a meets and bounds report that seems to do it, but I don't see any way to customize it to my style. The reports appear to be based on an XML file to dictate the format. I suppose one could hack that file, but it would not be easy. Also, I don't see how you can get it to write the description from the POC to the POB.
I use it to prevent transcription errors with my metes, but I have to add in my bounds and any additional information (i.e. ...to a 4x6x12 stone found).?ÿ
I have edited the file slightly so that each call ends with "... to an iron pin set," and for my preferred format (spelling out North, degrees, etc.).?ÿ There are several guides online that show how to edit the file.?ÿ
I haven't found a way to add a point of commencement.?ÿ
Check out Legal-Aid from AGT (www.agtcad.com).?ÿ It's $279 for a year subscription and is highly customizable including the ability to add your POC & POB.?ÿ You do have to go back in and write your preamble and adjoiner calls but I don't know how you could get away from having to do that portion manually.?ÿ I think it works pretty slick.
I still use, believe it or not, a lsp file written back in the days of Wildsoft2000. I had a time getting it to work in Civil 3D. I ended up having to load the entire R14 menu to get it to work. I love it. I go around the survey picking each point. It creates a DOC file I can put into word and alter anyway I need it to.
Since third party add-ons are being mentioned, try the 60-day full working evaluation of DotSoft's C3DTools.?ÿ It contains an extremely popular LegalWriter, a LegalReader and a whole lot more for roughly the same price as the previously mentioned, with one big exception (our license is perpetual, not annual rental).

That's an interesting package.?ÿ I wish there was more demo info available on youtube or the website to see it in action.?ÿ?ÿDoes the perpetual license span?ÿC3D releases or do I have to purchase a new license?ÿeach time I?ÿupgrade versions of C3D??ÿ

The description writer in C3D is "limited" at best. Dotsoft is a great value. The description writer is flexible and easy to set up. The description reader is a real time saver. I actually bought the package for the cogo routine. It is much more efficient than the routines in C3D.
New releases come along about every 18mo and upgrades are a fraction of the initial (low) price.?ÿ Beat on it for 60 days at no cost to see if it works for you.?ÿ Feel free to email me dotson [at] dotsoft [dot] com for specific questions.

This looks awesome
There are a few Youtube videos that walk you thru writing in C3D. One of my clients purchased AGTCad's Legal Aid. I'm excited to try it.

This is what we use and it works well.

As Cameron mentioned - LegalAid is the way to go. It is extremely customizeable and very easy to use. It will probably pay for itself the first time you use it.

AutoDesk should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring this aspect of their software - what they have is pathetic.
I use the dotsoft legal writer and it is incredible,?ÿ pays for its self on the first project
