There is an outfit at internationalcalculator.com that is fixing calculators and selling refurbished ones. I haven't heard any testimonials.?ÿ Maybe you can be our pathfinder.

Before the fixthatcalc website went dark the proprietor had a statement up which, in a nutshell, said that 99% of the repairs he did involved nothing more than taking the calculator apart and cleaning the contacts.

Out there on the interwebs it also says the 48s weren't meant to be taken apart.?ÿ I believe them, tried it twice now, and that never worked.?ÿ Glad someone figured it out.?ÿ

HP 35s works pretty good, 30-40 bucks.

@norman-oklahoma Thanks for this info-much appreciated. I cringe at the thought of not being able to have my 35 year old HP 11C or trusty HP 48GX with cogo card fixed should anything ever go bad. I had used "FixThatCalc" once in the past and they were great to work with.

I have a couple 41's I wouldn't mind getting fixed for old time sake. My daily is a 48GX that has a semi broken enter key. I have a 35s but never grew on me much and if I recall (haven't turned it on in about five years) there wasn't a DMS->HR function which i use about 100 times a day on my 48. I bought the 35s for last exam I took as 48's were banned.

A source to repair in the throw away calculator world is probably a hobby at best for someone these days.

@shelby-h-griggs-pls?ÿ

The 35s has a DMS->HR.?ÿ The button reads: "HMS->/->HMS"

I like my 35s.?ÿ The only thing I don't like about it is you cannot transfer or download programs.?ÿ You have to enter them by hand each time.

There are some good videos on YouTube for repairing HP calculators

D.M.S to Decimal degrees. I think on th eolder HP's at least it was abbreviated as HR?

HR and HMS are abbreviations for Hour and Hour Minute Second respectively, with HR being the equivalent of Decimal Degrees and HMS the equivalent of DMS or the hexigesmal (base 60) form of a number.

@randy-rain?ÿ?ÿ Sexagesimal (60 base) created by the Sumerians 4th millenia.?ÿ Pretty simple idea they had, that we still use today.

Literally hundreds for sale on eBay. Pretty certain anyone outside of surveying has HPƒ??s in way better shape than we do.?ÿ
I have 2 good ones and one with a problematic 0 key. When I can no longer get a working 48, Iƒ??ll retire.

@summerprophet I had to go and see that on ebay.?ÿ Looking for a 48 some time back, there weren't that many.

DID learn that there are now battery door covers for sale. Purchased one that cam w/o the battery cover but, just happy to have a calculator, so ust let it go.?ÿ?ÿ Not sure what's going on with this whole battery door/cover thing, they're about $25 +/-
