We were furnished with shape files supposed to be in PA South NAD83, the data imports using the GIS Import Shp file but the coordinates end up being N-14,613,757
E-1,984,420 Should be about N-334,435 E-1,413,375. Can anybody offer any input?
Maybe this [msg=161361]thread[/msg] will help some?
Maybe not?
Gary Rosen showed me how to import shape files into Carlson once.
Make sure your coordinate system is set under settings, select a database under the GIS settings, then import ESRI shp file. I just tried it and brought in an assessors' parcel layer just fine.

Is it possible those are UTM coordinates instead of SPC. It has been a while since I have seen UTM for PA south but I think that is about what those numbers are. By the looks of the expected SPC, you are right near my area.
I also believe the point is UTM in US survey feet if it's in Fayette county.

I checked my CAD drawing because I am a nerd like that and it appears to be about 8 miles north of Fayette, in Westmoreland.
Thanks for the correction! I just did a quick check in a GIS software package using county outline data. I must have misread the north/y coordinate.
