I am using dual monitors for the first time, and it is pretty darn awesome.
I have set up a small workstation in the study off of my bedroom, so I don't have to work out in the office on those last minute projects, or checking emails, etc.
We have an extra monitor that a friend let us use for a short while, and I thought I would try it out as a second monitor on my laptop. I am hooked. I will be looking for a second monitor for my desktop, and possibly the laptop work station in the house.
Have a good one!

I can't imagine not having at least two monitors.
There have been a few occasions I could easily justify having 3.
Beware of the laptop.
Some windows find their way to staying on #2. When you disconnect you will not see the window. I have successfully monkeyed with the registry to reset the starting position. I also have a VGA plugged into my TV so I can quickly reset the location of a window.

Since you said that, beware of the TV as well. I hooked my TV up to my s-video port and let Windows have a go at it. No problem.... except when I un-hooked it. On the next restart, Windows decided the TV resolutions were to be kept. Let's just say TV resolutions pail in comparison to our flat-screen monitors. If I had an HD TV it might not have been a problem. I could not find anything. Hooked the TV back up just to get to the control panel and tell Windows to use my regular screen as the primary. Unhooked the TV again and another restart... I got my stuff back and all the fonts were a mess. The desktop icons were the size of small dinner plates.
It was a teachable moment/evening that learnt (sp intentional) me well.
I've learned that lesson the hard way.
It is very hard to drag a window into the home screen when you can't see the window.
It is opposite to pin the tail on the donkey.
Conclusion, anytime computer is hooked up to something temporarily, change to original settings before disconnecting and turning off the machines.
Dual monitors are awesome and very helpful.
At any time of the day, I usually have a dozen things open at the same time, maybe two dozen when I am in total search mode.
To shift a window back to home screen, hold Shift + Windows button(between fn and alt), then press either right or left.(Depending on whether your cursor goes into the second monitor from the right or left.
Yer welcome.

I've been using two monitors for a while now. I can never go back to one. I realize how much paper I wasted too. I now I can plot deeds or filed maps by having them up on one screen and CAD on the other.
Triple Monitors
I anybody using 3? Two doesn't seem like enough anymore.

Q: Solve For Desktop Monitor Minimum Efficient Scale

I have been running dual monitors for 8+ years now. I can't imagine have to run with only one. I run my CAD floating toolbars/panels on one screen and map on the other.
Now I just need to push IT for bigger monitors...
You're just now upgrading to two monitors? I can draft a complete ALTA survey in 7 minutes flat.

That would usually take me seven hours!
I only run one monitor, though.:excruciating:
Oh, NOW I see your monitor set up. OK!
I have a two monitor setup with my lappy and love it. However, I've recently been wishing I had a third. I can use the lappy screen as the third, but it's kind of awkward because it is the same resolution as the big monitors but on a smaller screen. A third monitor just like the two I already have placed right in the middle would be most perfect. To add the third monitor, I'd have to get an external hub.
Currently, one is plugged in to the HDMI and the other into the VGA. The downside to this is that the colors are wildly different on each monitor. This is good, in a way, however, since I build websites and it gives me a way to see them in both formats.
One thing I make sure of is that the monitor resolutions are all identical to the laptop resolution. That way, when I do use the lappy monitor alone, the desktop doesn't get all rearranged every time I switch.
Anyway, here's my setup:

awesome! thanks a million.
I learned the hard way. Do not disconnect the second monitor until you power down your computer.
I did not know about the Alt-Windows button. Don't even know if it worked in XP which was what was on that machine.
Love my dual monitors (excuse the messy desk)

Now, that is a monitor.....
My desk like yours is not big enough for two of them.
I am planning to get a wall mount for mine to clear more desk space.
:good:
I have a client that has one this size. I saw it and had to have one. Its actually a 41 inch TV. Works great.
I've been running dualies for an awful long time, at least 8 years and probably more. I can't imagine computing without them.
I just added dual 23s and I wished I'd done it long ago, but the price point is right there now - I think my Acer setup was maybe $300 or so.
I would add another 1 or even 2 if I could since I like to have so much stuff going at one time, but I have an XP machine (thanks to Eagle Point) and it crashes sometimes, taking down everything. That's the only down side - like an attic addition, it soon fills up ..........
..or drop one from the ceiling; they don't weigh anything.
