I have a desktop running Windows XP Professional. I rarely have any issues with Carlson in it.

I also have the same program on my laptop, (Thank you Carlson for working with the solo guys!). Being able to have the same copy legally installed on two pc's for a solo setup was a huge deciding factor in my decision to go with Carlson, not to mention it is surveyor friendly.

On the laptop, I am running Vista home edition, I believe. I cannot use "DT" to activate the dtext command. I can do this on the desktop with no problem. I have type out "text" to use the dtext (single line text) on the laptop. If I use "DT" it brings up the multi-line text command.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jimmy

I seem to remember there being an issue with a patch for shortcuts. Email Carlson and they should be able to send you the patch I'm talking about.

for me, I type in dtext. My issue was bb for bearing bearing intersection or bd or dd, none worked until I got the patch.

Is there an alias file?

Type ALIASEDIT
at the command line. You should be able to set up any keystrokes for any commands.

These shortcuts are found in the alias.pgp file, it sounds like you have different versions of this file on different machines.

My Carlson ACAD 2009 does NOT have ALIASEDIT.

I wish it did. I would love to shortcut some commands like DIMALIGNED or RECTANGLE.

Actually... there should be a place to edit your command aliases. I don't have carlson here, but I have modified the alias in 2010.

CORRECTION

It's not alias.pgp

The file's name is ACAD.PGP

Search to see if you have that file, then you can just open and edit it with a text editor.

Jimmy,
Are you using Carlson Survey with the embedded AutoCad or are you using the Survey package on top of a version of AutoCad? It looks like you are using the embedded version based on the quick key problem.
IF you are using the version on top of AutoCad, there should be a "Quick key" edit tab where you can reset what you need.
IF, however, you are using the embedded version, you cannot play with the quick keys and you have no *.pgp file. But that can be fixed. Get a copy of thw acad.pgp file from a friend that has Autocad. Rename it to SURV.pgp and place that file in the support file. You can now edit that file to your heart's content. HOWEVER, the Carlson quick keys will overwrite the pgp file, so you may have to rename a few things to get them to work.
If you do not know anyone that will give you a copy of the acad.pgp file, send me an email and I will send you a copy of my SURV.pgp file.
