Trying to connect my Nikon NPL 350 to my new computer running windows 7.
I have a USB to serial Adaper installed and the computer is seeing the Com port when I plug it in.
The problem is, the Nikon Transit Software only talks to COM1, COM2 COM3 OR COM4 and the Serial ports and my computer are COM6 and higher (depending which USB port I plug into)
any ideas?
if above does not work you can try to cheat you software with this program: http://sourceforge.net/projects/com0com/ The program creates virtual com ports and you can pair them, or pair virtual ones to real ones as well.
If you create a pair with usb-com port on one end and a virtual port on the other end, than you can use the viraual end in you software.
it is like a pipe joining usb-com port and your software.
I have an NPL 350 also, you can download a free copy of Trimble Data Transfer that should work for you.

Thank you thank you thank you! That was the ticket! The Trimble software was not nikon user friendly. Could not get it to upload and had to play around with the download file. This put me back into my Transit software. thanks again
