Hi,

Just got Carlson Civil as a test. Does anyone know what the settings are and are supposed to be in Carlson Survey to get it properly setup for Southern Hemisphere work. South Azimuth, Increases South-West. I have set up the drawing in Setup > Drawing Setup > Coordinate System > Grid and also Projection > South Africa (Hartebeeshoek94/Lo27). I got the points to import and if I export to GE, it comes in perfectly in the correct place.

The problem is that in AutoCad the points are all rotated 90å¡. I can see from the "dynamic coords" that the system increases UP (North) and RIGHT (East). That's the main problem. Is there any way to change that to increase DOWN (South) and LEFT (West).

One way to solve it is to change from a WCS, and then rotating my viewcube so North faces down, then define a new UCS as "view". And to only then import the points, everything looks right and GE export also looks right? Any way to get around this?

Thanks

Ok so I think I answered my own question. Will just explain to others if any poor soul works in a silly country where coords increase south-west.

1. Open AutoCad
2. Open either the acad template that AutoCad loads by defauly or the carlson template. I used the acad.dwt template but I dont think it matters.
3. Rotate the viewcube 180
4. Set UCS as View
5. Save a new UCS with a name
6. Save this drawing as a new template and call it something like "increase south-west.dwt" or whatever floats your boat
7. Go to Carlson in ACAD - Carlson configure - Startup settings - Template name and Browse. Select that new template that you just made
8. Carlson will now load a 180 rotated UCS and works so far for me

Any other tips and tricks as to Carlson will be appreciated. You guys have much more experience with this than me,and so far it seems like an awesome piece of software.

Thanks

Type "UNITS" on the Command Line and play with all parts of the "Direction" selection.
