I've been running into a problem for a while now with contour labels disappearing. Not all of the labels will do this just a few and a regen typically doesn't typically help. The weird thing is that the label is still there and shows up if you hover the cursor over the label, but disappears as soon as you move the cursor away. My only fix for now is to delete these ghost labels and replace them, which is kind of a pain. Not sure if DVIEW twist would have an affect on this, but most of my topo site drawings have a twist applied to orient the site.
I'm not sure if the problem is related, but I also have a problem with the drawing order of some of my text masks moving to the front for no apparent reason.
Thanks
Kelly
Guessing you've already smart selected them and done the display order dance?
I remember having this problem with an older version around 2006. I think the only way around it at the time was to redraw the contours from the surface model.
Flyin Solo hit the nail on the head. I can't remember which command causes it, but the draw order gets screwed up and the labels are under the wipeout/text mask. Selecting the labels and using draw order to bring them to the front will fix the problem.
And THAT is why I avoid wipe outs and masks. Nothing but problems for years.

Thanks for the replies. I called tech support and they had me do an audit and regen. I'll have to wait and see .....It did fix the couple ghost labels I currently had in the drawing.
Try "texttofront"

It appears that "texttofront" has been stripped out of the OEM version.
There are other commands missing on the OEM Version like rename, lengthen, filter. Had to open Carlson with Intellicad to rename a block that was embedded in my old drawings. I noticed they are still on Autocad.
