Can you do a GPS localization on the desktop if you have all the field data collected? I can do it on the collector, but was wnodering if it can be done in CS.
I'm trying to go from lat/long or SPC to local coords and create a locaization (.loc file) to up load into my data collector.
thanks
Yes , download the loc file. Carlson will prompt you for it when youprocess the raw file under GPS process . You can also do it in Carlson Survnet if you use the localization points as control.
I have tested the field , Raw data and Survnet method and I get slightly different answers with each.
I just realized what you where asking . If your trying to localize to a site then I am pretty sure it must be in the data collector . But you can reprocess the field data using the methods above to get grid coords and then back out to the data collector .

See if Settings -- Drawing Setup -- Define Localization gets you what you need.
Thanks for your input. I'm not sure if I can create a localization (.loc) file to upload to my data collector and use in the field on my desktop. I agree that I think the only way is using SurvCE localization progam.
Ladd can you confirm this?
Thank you
The localization produced by the software can be saved to a LOC file that can be loaded into SurvCE for use in the field. However, it is my belief the safer approach would be to create and store the localization in the field through SurvCE.
THANK YOU
