I have an older Nikon DTM 420.?ÿ I've connected to Carlson data collectors in the past, but had no luck earlier today trying to connect to one.?ÿ

?ÿ

I don't know what version software it is, but are all versions of SurvCE compatible with older instruments, or have they phased them out??ÿ It's been a year or so since I've connected a DC to my Nikon, so I wonder if it's the instrument and not the DC.

?ÿ

(yes, I set the baud rates the same)

?ÿ

Thanks

Maybe try it as a DTM 330 or DTM 500?

@jaccen

Tried those.  It didn't have the 400 series as an option.  Tried pretty much all the Nikon options, but didn't do the trick.  Weird thing was that it seemed to accept the A series and 300 series, but when I went to shoot, it would trigger the instrument to take the distance, which it did, but then DC gave the error message.

Thanks anyway.

@ladd-nelson

Thanks for the reply.  I have the correct cable - two of them, in fact, but no luck.  All the settings were as listed.   As said, I've used this before with a Surveyor+, Ranger, etc, with no problems.

I'm thinking that it's either something goofed up in the instrument or something in the DC.  It's an older Allegro box, so who knows.

Thanks
