Carlson Plotting Question

Trying out the Carlson Survey 2013 w/ Intellicad.

I made a drawing that I am satisfied with. I plotted it to have a hard copy to review for any changes. That hard copy plotted perfectly.

I went to the field and set one point prior to finalizing the drawing.

When I got back to the office, I opened the drawing and everything looks the same. However, when I plot it - the text is a completely different size on the plot.

I seem to recall reading about something like this before, but I can not find the answer.

Any suggestions?

Let me take a stab at this. With my data collector when I send drawing from the computer it must be in the .dxf file format. The same for the return file. The conversion to or from a .dxf file may be the reason your text style is changing.

I generally do not transfer the drawing (Map) from the data collector to my computer. If I have taken additional shots I only transfer the coordinate file.

Are you plotting from a layout or from the model? Would it be possible to post (or Email) a sample of the drawing and a sample or screen-shot of the plotted output for a comparison?

Thanks for the suggestion Brian.

I did not communicate the event very well. I did not do any uploading or downloading through Carlson. I had calculated a point in the collector, but wanted to set it to make sure it was in the ground before I plotted the final plat.

All I did was save the drawing, close the software, and shut off my monitor. When I came back, I turned on the monitor, started Carlson, opened the drawing.

Plotting from model space.

I'm thinking it is user error and has something to do with the settings of scales and text scales. Some of those behind the scenes things that I have not appreciated or dealt with in a while as they are set the way I want them on my current software.

When I have a chance, I will post pics.

I just tried to print again to see if I could figure it out, and now the software does not finish opening. I get to select the drawing file and it comes up on screen, but will not get to the point of the command menu being available. Seems to just hang up.

Before opening the file run the drawing recover command from the file menu. Select the problem file and the drawing will be audited and errors corrected. Hopefully this will fix your issues.

Ladd, Just sent you an e-mail about the issue.

It may be one of the basic cadd set-up matters that I have not dealt with in years. I opened a drawing from my current software into Carlson to play around and test it out. For some reason, Carlson recognized and used my current software font (courier) on the first opening of the file. I printed the drawing out and it looked fine.

After re-starting Carlson later, that font was not recognized and was replace with a different one. The issue may have had to do with the way that font was set-up.

I have just gotten complacent in my drafting. Over time, I have taken for granted the behind the scenes work of the cadd software and need to get re-acclimated with some of the settings.

For the benefit of others who might be experiencing issues, I suspect this might be due to the different fonts that ship with IntelliCAD compared to those that ship with AutoCAD. In summary, one solution would be to path IntelliCAD to also look for fonts in your AutoCAD fonts directory (from Settings -- IntelliCAD Options):

I hope this information helps.
